Gusciora on Violence in Charlottesville and Aftermath: This Brand of Hatred has no Home Here

Assemblyman Reed Gusciora

Assembly Deputy Majority Leader Reed Gusciora (D-Mercer/Hunterdon) sounded off today on the events that have transpired over the last week since Charlottesville, and made it clear that he will not tolerate white nationalism, anti-Semitism, neo-Nazism, xenophobia, homophobia, and misogyny.

“Contrary to popular belief, white nationalism did not retreat in the aftermath of the American Civil War or the American civil rights movement. It simply became less visible, entrenched, sometimes unknowingly, in our statutes, programs, and policies.

“Unfortunately, we are witnessing a resurgence in overt racism and blatant hate crimes, driven by violent, racist, and nativist rhetoric.  While many of us have turned a blind eye over the years to the morally repugnant ideology espoused by these groups, we can no longer afford to dismiss them as fringe organizations with no capability to affect mainstream political discourse in the United States.

“As the events in Charlottesville demonstrate, the time has come for us to speak out against these hate groups who seek to verbally and physically attack other Americans who are our neighbors, our friends, our families.  There simply are not two rational sides to this issue.  The side that makes us Americans based on the principles embedded into our Constitution was not on display by these hate groups.

“Just as our Declaration of Independence envisions that all persons are ‘created equal’ the document also begs for a ‘decent respect to the opinions of mankind.’  We should care that the world is watching how we resolve this social justice issue.  In this regard if we strive to protect the rights of ‘life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness’ for everyone, it is incumbent that we stand up against hatred towards those who may look different than us or practice their own religion.

“White Supremacists, Neo-Nazis and members of the KKK are a minority opinion that espouses hatred rather than tolerance.  To suggest that there is a moral equivalence with those fighting for tolerance and justice misses the point of our foundational principles.

“To those who choose to make public their hateful ideologies, let it be clear that you will find absolutely no safe haven here.  I am prepared to work closely with my colleagues, and do whatever it takes, to ensure that this brand of hatred has no home here in New Jersey.”

  1. Does he really think he is the only one who ” will not tolerate white nationalism, anti-Semitism, neo-Nazism, xenophobia, homophobia, and misogyny”. ???? They are words USED & ABUSED to discredit & demonize anyone who may disagree with the users’ political ideologies, all of which are anti-American (socialism, fascism, communism, anarchism etc.). So if I disagree with his political ideology, I am called all those ugly names, including racist. Does not make sense to me! How about you?

Most Americans who are capable of analytical thinking would look at the various Charlottsville and Boston videos shown on TV and elsewhere just may disagree with his ONE-SIDED comment “…. not two rational sides to this issue…”. Are we to believe only HE has the ONE ‘rational side’?

Is he saying there is only ONE RATIONAL SIDE to the VIOLENCE in Charlottsville and Boston recently? Does he mean the side (AntiFa & BLM etc.) that came with baseball bats, spray cans of chemicals, masks, bottles of urine & ROCKs …. all that were thrown at Boston police . . . ??? Or does he mean those who marched for Free Speech? Or does he mean only those with torches, confederate flags, etc.? Why is he taking SIDES? What is his political agenda? He seems to be denigrating our President, whom he should be respecting for NOT taking sides, but for calling out FRINGE GROUPS of trouble makers. It takes two to tango; and it took all sides who represented many fringe groups to cause the violence in Charlottsville. And in Boston, the small group of Free Speech folks were encircled by AntiFa, and other fringe groups, and effectively SHUT DOWN. Is that what Mr. Gusciora is defending: the shutting down of free speech?

No USA-loving person supports KKK or White Supermacy, etc. BUT: WHO is supporting the haters and AntiFA who descended upon POTUS45 Inauguration, who decended with masks & weapons in Charlottsville & Boston . . ?? Truth is slowly coming out because any Leader of any kind should not be taking sides with any fringe group, especially those causing violence.

What was/is the agendas of Charlottsville Mayor & Democrat Governor McCuliffe when their police took over an hour to get to the violent scene and then STAND DOWN? Why didn’t the Governor send in National Guard IF police could not handle it? Do those two political leaders have blood on their hands for choosing to forget their own guilt in order to accomplish a devilish mission?.

My information comes from ALL news sources, especially VIDEOS: CNN, MSNBC, WAPO, NYT, Fox, C-Span, CBS etc. I wonder where Mr. Gusciora got his talking points . . . ?

I know, I know, I am not politically correct because I am not agreeing with Progressive Liberal ideology. Mr. Gusciora is being politically correct, but in my opinion, not honest.
