Hopewell Valley Children’s Theatre is celebrating their 18th summer season of performances with Shrek, Jr!, an elementary school aged performed production, and Mary Poppins, put on by local middle and high school aged performers.

Hopewell Valley Children’s Theatre is a non-profit arts education program, endorsed by the NJ Council of the Arts, serving the community since 1998. HVCT’s mission, to enrich and enhance the self-esteem and talents of local students through performing arts experiences, continues year round. HVCT has always been “For Kids…By Kids” keeping the students’ talents and need for growth at the forefront of the organization’s mindset. Students are involved in every facet of the production onstage and off.

Come on “ogre” and join Hopewell Valley Children’s Theatre as they proudly present Shrek, Jr! Mark your summer calendar for an evening performance on Friday, July 31, 2015 at 7pm and a matinee performance on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at 2pm! “Big, Bright Beautiful World,” “I Know It’s Today,” and “Let your Freak Flag Fly” are just a few of the memorable tunes from this Broadway version based on the popular animated film. HVCT’s production of Shrek, Jr. brings together area students from a variety of towns and elementary schools.

Mary Poppins will be performed Thursday, July 30, 2015 at 7pm and Saturday, August 1, 2015. Sing along to your favorites, “A Spoonful of Sugar”, “Jolly Holliday” and “Go Fly a Kite” to name a few. Mary Poppins brings students together from area middle and high schools.

The HVCT creative staff behind the summer production includes Producer/Director, Cathy Sing, Music Director, Bernadette Furlong, Vocal/Costume Director, Vicki Krampf, Choreographer, Jessica Furlong, and Acting Director/Extended Day Program, Ryan Smith. HVCT is grateful for the support of the HVRSD school district, parents and volunteers, who have supported their efforts to enrich the community and given the group a home since 1998.

All performances will be at the Performing Arts Center at the Hopewell Valley Central High School 259 Pennington-Titusville Road, Pennington NJ. Tickets are $12 Adults, $8 Students/SeniorCitizens/Teachers and on sale now through HVCT.org or General Admission seating will be available at the theater box office 1 hour prior to the performances. Mary Galioto
Mary Galioto is the founder, publisher and editor of MercerMe, and a lawyer. Originally from Brooklyn, Mary has progressively moved deeper and deeper into New Jersey, settling in the heart of the state: Mercer County. Formerly the author of an embarrassingly informal blog, Mary is a lifelong writer and asker of questions and was even mentioned, albeit briefly, in the New York Times and Washington Post. In her free time, Mary fills her life with excessive self-reflection, photographing mushrooms, and misguided adventures in random hobbies. Mary also works as the PR Coordinator at the Hopewell Valley Arts Council, serves on the volunteer Board of Trustees of the Lawrence Hopewell Trail (LHT), serves on the Hopewell Borough Board of Health, is a member of the Hopewell Valley Municipal Alliance, and holds the elected position as the Hopewell Borough Democratic Committee Municipal Chairwoman.
