Hopewell Valley Mayors’ Breakfast to Honor Helpwell Founders

by MercerMe Staff

Mayors Kevin Kuchinski, Tony Persichilli, and Paul Anzano invite the Hopewell Valley community to celebrate 21 years of the Healthy Communities Healthy Youth Initiative of the Hopewell Valley Municipal Alliance during the Hopewell Valley Mayors’ Breakfast on Friday, October 20, 2017. The event will be hosted by Capital Health–Hopewell and will begin at 8:30am in the New Jersey Pure Conference Center on the first floor of the hospital.

Alan Axelrod, LCSW, will be the guest speaker. He has been practicing psychotherapy for over 35 years and a Zen Buddhist for 18 years, helping people, including Hopewell Valley youth, who are suffering from many issues.

Additionally, Nancy Barich and JoAnn Markiewicz will both be honored as the Municipal Alliance Volunteers of the Year for their success in creating the Helpwell program, which provides citizens an opportunity to participate in the student education.

“JoAnn and I are so honored to be recognized as Volunteers of the Year by the Municipal Alliance. Helpwell and the Municipal Alliance share a common purpose, to engage the community to improve the experiences and opportunities for our students,” said Barich.

Barich and Markiewicz have both dedicated much of their parenting years volunteering within the school community. Each year, Helpwell has become larger, with more volunteers, all working toward the goal of creating a program that is sustainable in the long-term.

Any Hopewell Valley community member interested in attending the breakfast should contact the Hopewell Valley Municipal Alliance at [email protected].
