The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) and its approximately 10,300 members around the world have recognized the Hopewell Valley Regional School District for the Support Music Merit Award in 2016 from the NAMM Foundation. With this prestigious accolade from a nationwide nonprofit foundation, the Hopewell Valley Regional School District is demonstrating its commitment to innovative learning opportunities for all children as outlined in the new federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). This Act lists music and the arts as recommended subjects as important for a wellrounded education for all students. This is the 8th straight year that the Hopewell Valley Regional School District has won this award.

The HVRSD music program, lead by Peter J. Griffin, Supervisor of Visual and Performing Arts, provides extensive opportunities to over 3,500 students in grades kindergarten through twelfth grade. The Hopewell Valley Regional School District is one of 476 school districts across the United States being recognized as among the Best Communities for Music Education (BCME).

“This latest commendation of our district music program is a testament to the true value and priority that our community at large, school officials, teachers, staff puts on the importance of a well balanced and comprehensive arts program. But, most importantly, this accolade is a validation of the great kids we have here in Hopewell Valley. They are truly the best and have been for a while now with this 8th consecutive year that they are being recognized for such,” said Griffin.

The NAMM Foundation is a nonprofit supported in part by the National Association of Music Merchants and its approximately 10,300 members around the world. The foundation advances active participation in music making across the lifespan by supporting scientific research, philanthropic giving and public service programs. “This reward demonstrates an unwavering commitment by the Hopewell Valley Board of Education and the entire Hopewell Valley School community to provide a comprehensive music education for all students,” shared Thomas Smith, Superintendent of Schools. “We are excited that our staff has been recognized for their hard work and dedication.”
