by MercerMe Staff

The following is a message from Lawrence Township:

Holiday Tree Lighting: Come out and start the holiday season by celebrating the Annual Tree Lighting Event on Saturday, December 4th at 6:00 p.m. at the Municipal Building.  See the attached flyer for more information.

Joseph H. Maher Ecological Center: The ecological center is now closed on Saturdays.  It will reopen again on Saturdays beginning in April 2017.

Road Work: Carter Road bridge project is progressing and is anticipated to be completed by the end of the year. The traffic pattern on the Route #1 project now goes up to the Brunswick Circle. Motorists should use caution and be aware of the lane shifts between the Brunswick Circle and Lake Drive.

Leaf Collection: The months of November and December are dedicated to fall leaf collection. The Township will assign one leaf collection crew to each brush zone for the months of November and December.  Residents may place loose leaves at the curb.  Leaves must be ten feet and down hill from storm drains. If you have questions or need additional information, please call the Department of Public Works at 609-587-1894.

Lawrence Township Eco-Waste Collection Program: Lawrence Township continues to offer an optional recycling program that allows residents the opportunity to compost their organic waste.  Removing organic materials from the waste stream will reduce the amount of trash that is taken to the landfill.  According to the EPA, food scraps and yard waste make up 20 to 30 percent of the waste stream. If you are interested, please complete the enrollment form: http://lawrencetwp.com/pw-organicwaste.html
