Lawrence Township to Honor Local Businesses, Seeks Nominations

by Ryan Kennedy

The Lawrence Township Growth and Redevelopment Committee this week requested nominations for the 2014 annual Economic Growth and Business Awards.  Held each year in conjunction with the MIDJersey Chamber of Commerce, this year’s awards ceremony will be on October 8 at a Chamber breakfast event in one of Lawrence’s newest restaurants, Brio.  The Committee is seeking input from the community for businesses, individuals and organizations deserving of recognition in categories ranging from new large and small businesses, historic preservation, to environmental conservation as part of its efforts to develop and promote Lawrence Township’s business community.  Recent past award recipients have included:

  • Bristol Myers Squibb for its environmental contributions and work on the Lawrence-Hopewell Trail
  • the recently completed Womanspace headquarters on Route 1 in the Township
  • Laura Nawrocik and Ashley Morris, authors of the book “Lawrence Township Revisited“, celebrating and promoting the rich history of Lawrence
  • Captain Paul’s Firehouse Dogs for their community service

Nomination forms and a list of all of the award categories can be found on the Township’s website and are due by August 8 in order to receive consideration.  Forms can be faxed (609 896-0412), mailed (P.O. Box 6006, Lawrence, NJ 08648), or emailed ([email protected]) to Lawrence Township’s Business Advocate, Andy Link.  Information on attending the awards ceremony will be posted by the Township and the Chamber in the coming weeks, following an announcement of the award winners and this year’s keynote speaker.
