Letter to the Editor: HVEF Power of 100 Campaign

by Community Contributor

Did you know that the Hopewell Valley Education Foundation has raised over $500,000 for the Hopewell Valley Regional School District throughout the past 18 years? The foundation provides various types of funding and support throughout the year that enriches the educational experience of our amazing students.  Some of the initiatives the foundation directly funds are  grants for teachers to enhance and customize their curriculum, college scholarships for students, outfitting our schools with new technologies and tools like iPads, laptops and 3-D printers, providing pre-engineering programs and enhancing literacy by placing authors in our school system.

The Hopewell Valley Education Foundation has an annual campaign that kicked off called the “Power of 100” which I would like to raise awareness of. We have a goal to raise $25,000 for the district this year and the funds will help facilitate a new and exciting redesign for the media centers in all the schools in Hopewell. Newly designed media centers will provide students with more opportunities for hand-on learning using various methods and technologies that foster collaboration and creativity.  Media spaces go beyond books and computer technology. The spaces will be designed with new configurable furniture and various mediums like sewing machines, textiles and crafts materials.Designing these centers is a new challenge for the district and the reach is wide. The Power of 100 campaign will fund the district’s initiative by providing funding for additional 3-D printers as well as funding training needed by specialists who will be working in these new spaces.

The 21st century media center supports collaboration and group work with hand-on learning. Our students need a well-designed media center that meets those needs. Please join me in contributing to the “Power of 100” campaign by contributing a donation via hvef.org/powerof100 or mail to HVEF at P.O. Box 553, Pennington, N.J. 08534.

Thank you for your support!
