Letter to the Editor: Save the Sourlands while having fun at Sourland Music Festival

by Community Contributor

To the Editor:

How often do we get to do good while having a blast? Pretty rare but there is an opportunity coming up.

Most of your readers will know and appreciate the Sourland Mountain – in many ways it is one of the defining features of our area, a green gem, rich in history as well as an invaluable ecosystem. Sadly, this jewel is under threat from many sources, including over-development, pipelines, invasive species and too many deer.  Local residents are fighting back, however, and supporting efforts by the likes of the Sourland Conservancy to protect the Sourlands.

Which brings us to the fun! On Saturday, June 23, the Hillsborough Country Club will host the 15th Annual Sourland Music Festival. Six of the best regional bands, great food (including from our own, wonderful Brick Farm Market and the iconic Ryland Inn), craft beers and local wines, and lots of activities for kids. All for $15 (and less or free for kids!).  This is a true community event and all profits go to the Conservancy and saving the Sourlands.

I would ask anybody who cares about the Sourlands to round up family, friends and neighbors and come along on the 23rd to have a blast while doing good!  Details at www.sourlandmusicfest.org
