Message of Hate Found on Baldpate Mountain in Hopewell Twp

by Angela Jacobs

Late last week, someone spray painted an “A”, a swastika, and “TRIP” on tree stumps approximately 100 yards from the Pleasant Valley Road parking lot at Baldpate Mountain in Titusville. Hopewell Township police guess that “TRIP” is the vandal’s signature and are actively conducting an investigation.

The hate-filled symbol can be added to a growing list of nationally reported incidents of hate speech since last week’s presidential election. When Lawrence Township Police Chief Mark Ubry and Hopewell Township Police Chief Lance Maloney were asked if incidents (beyond what occurred at Baldpate Mountain) have been reported their towns both said, “No, knock on wood.”
