Motor Vehicle Accident in Hopewell Twp Involving Van of Special Needs Adults

At 3:02 PM the Hopewell Township Police Department, along with Hopewell Valley Emergency Services, were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash on County Route 546 at the intersection of Dublin Road. Officers arrived and found that a Ford passenger van and a Dodge Caravan had collided.

The passenger van was driven by Mia Doney (27 year old female from Quinton Ave. Trenton, NJ). Five adult special needs passengers were also in the van. Ms. Doney and the five passengers were transported to an area hospital by members of Hopewell Valley Emergency Services and the Pennington First Aid Squad as a precaution. They are expected to be treated and released.

The Dodge Caravan was driven by a 17 year old Hopewell Township, NJ boy. The boy was transported to an area hospital by members of Ewing Township Emergency Services for minor lacerations. He was expected to be treated and released.

Investigation into the crash revealed that the boy was traveling along Dublin Road southbound when he disregarded a stop sign and struck the passenger van which was traveling westbound along Route 546.

County Route 546 was closed for approximately one hour. Traffic was detoured around the crash scene.

Assisting on scene were members of Hopewell Valley Emergency Services, the Pennington Fire Company, the Pennington First Aid Squad, Ewing Township Emergency Services and the West Trenton Volunteer Fire Company.

The boy will be issued a summons for disregarding a stop sign. The crash is being investigated by Officer James Rosso.                                    .
