Mark your calendars for three upcoming events to benefit Mercer County’s Womanspace, Inc. based in Lawrenceville, NJ.  Womanspace is a nonprofit agency providing services to individuals and families impacted by domestic and sexual violence.  Womanspace serves the community by offering outreach crisis intervention programs, providing emergency shelter, counseling, court advocacy and housing services.   Womanspace receives funding from the State of New Jersey, the County of Mercer and contributions from individuals, organizations, foundations and corporations; asserting that no victim of domestic violence or sexual assault will be turned away due to an inability to pay.

Domestic violence and sexual assault are not just women’s issues, and they are not just individual or family problems. Violence against women is a human issue, and a social problem. It’s up to the community to take a stand against abuse, hold abusers accountable for their behavior and protect victims.

Join Womanspace for April’s Sexual Assault Awareness Month and consider contributing to their amazing cause. Please check out their website for more information, to register or to sponsor an event.  www.womanspace.org or call Lauren Nazarian, Director of Development at 609-394-0136 or email at lan@womanspace.org

Also a transplant to New Jersey and Mercer County, Merritt McGlynn is walking a tightrope between career woman and devoted mother: hanging on for dear life with her dishpan hands. Merritt is a mom to two of the most adorable children in Jersey: a darling and spunky 4-year-old and a certifiably insane but heart-melting almost-3-year-old. Married to the always-working "Coach", Merritt tries to maintain some appearance of a work-life balance, and often finds that the scales are usually tipped in one direction or the other - but she’s still trying! In her spare time, if she ever gets any, Merritt would like to read books, travel with her husband, drink margaritas on the deck, and one day, if she’s really lucky, enjoy a phone conversation without interruptions. For now, she’ll settle for 20 minutes of an Audrey Hepburn movie and a diet coke.
