All Clear After Bomb Threat At Hopewell Valley Central HS

by Mary Galioto

The Hopewell Township Police Department responded to the Hopewell Valley Central High School in response to a non-specific bomb threat written on a boy’s bathroom wall. The high school dismissed students at the regular dismissal time of 2:45 PM and sent out a message to the school district community.

As a precaution, all remaining staff and students were evacuated from the building. Students participating in after-school activities at the high school were prohibited from entering the building during this investigation.

Mercer County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Officer Robert Conover responded to the scene and coordinated the response of additional K-9 units from the Princeton Police Department, Trenton Police Department and NJ Transit Police.

The high school was then systemically searched by K-9 personnel and members of the Hopewell Township Police Department.

A search of the school proved negative for any suspicious devices and the school was repopulated for after-school activities by 4:40 PM.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact Detective Michael Sherman at the Hopewell Township Police Department, 609-737-3100.
