Amy Klein Steps Down as Executive Director of VolunteerConnect

by MercerMe Staff

After seven years serving, Amy Klein will be leaving her position as executive director of VolunteerConnect, announces the VolunteerConnect Board of Directors. VolunteerConnect is a Mercer County based nonprofit organization, founded in 1998, that promotes skilled volunteerism and service in central New Jersey.

The VolunteerConnect Board of Directors anticipates a smooth transition in collaboration with Klein, one of Princeton’s most highly respected nonprofit leaders. Her departure comes at a time of financial stability and strength for the nonprofit organization. Her decision was a personal one, based on a desire to be closer to family on the West Coast.

During the transition, board members will oversee management and provide guidance for specific areas within the organization. An interim executive director will be announced in the near future. Klein’s last day with VolunteerConnect will be November 28, 2018.

“It is with both sadness and gratitude that we announce this news,” said Dennis Kilfeather, Chairman of the Board, VolunteerConnect. “We will miss Amy’s leadership, vision, and her ability to make strategic connections with central New Jersey nonprofit organizations. She successfully launched the skills-based volunteerism movement in New Jersey, including nonprofit board training for individuals and corporations and short-term pro bono impact projects.”

Celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2018, VolunteerConnect helps organizations enhance their capacity by providing them with professional talent to get critical, strategic projects completed.

For her effective, long-standing community efforts, Klein was named the 2017 “Community Leader of the Year” by the Princeton Regional Chamber.

“Amy leaves VolunteerConnect with strong financials, a clear strategic plan and an energized Board of Directors,” said Nancy Robins, founder of VolunteerConnect. “Amy has attracted top talent to VolunteerConnect and helped us strengthen the foundation from which we will continue to grow.”
