Great Afternoon at Art All Night

by Mary Galioto

This year was our first time at “Art All Night” in Trenton.  We have young kids so it was more like “all afternoon” but it was still so much fun.

Art All Night is a 24-hour annual arts event presented by ArtWorks, Trenton’s downtown visual arts center, and held in the the Chambersburg section of Trenton in the former Roebling Wire Works factory building and at the adjacent Millyard Park, an urban Mercer County Parks Commission park.

Each year, the Roebling Wire Works is transformed into an art gallery with art by any artist of any age, medium or skill level and is “a catalyst for community development, shining a spotlight on our region’s artistic talent,” according to their website. Much of the art is available for purchase, so if you’re looking for reasonably priced local art, this is perfect for you.

In addition to the art on display, there is live mural painting, glass-blowing demonstrations, art projects for kids, interactive art, a “silent” disco, films and live music on several bandstands. There is also plenty of food available for purchase.

It happens once a year on the 3rd weekend in June so mark your calendar now for next year and MerceMe will see you there!
