Barn Dance Benefit for Carter Road Preservation

by Mary Galioto

A Barn Dance and Silent Auction to benefit the Carter Road Preservation Project, hosted by New Jersey Conservation Foundation and Hopewell Valley Citizens’ Group, will be held Sunday, February 15, 2015 from 7-9:30 pm at Music Together, 225 Hopewell-Pennington Rd, Hopewell.

Local chefs and bakers are donating sweet and savory treats. The caller will be Sue Dupré. Live music performed by Bill Flemer’s Riverside Bluegrass Band. Tickets: $50 with a reservation by Wednesday Feb. 11, or, $60 at the door. Soft soled shoes only! RSVP requested at https://donate.njconservation.org/carter-road-barn-dance.

The Carter Road Preservation Project will save 320 acres on the east and west sides of the former Western Electric campus on Carter Road and forever end plans for major commercial development, high density housing and 4,500 vehicles commuting through local roads in central NJ to this beautiful rural site. This preserved open space will be the centerpiece of a corridor of preserved farmlands and open space linking Hopewell Valley to the Sourland Mountains. The 320 acres will become a new public park with walking trails. This project also provides for the completion of the northern loop of the Lawrence-Hopewell Trail, a thirty mile regional trail system dedicated for walkers and cyclists.
