Candidates for Hopewell Twp Committee to Debate at LWV Forum

by Mary Galioto

This fall, there are several seats up for election on municipal committees and councils throughout the Hopewell Valley, but only one of them is contested — the one in Hopewell Township between Harvey Lester and Julie Blake, vying for a seat on the Hopewell Township Committee.

Since there is only one contest, the Hopewell Valley League of Women Voters is using a scaled-back format for their annual Candidates Forum, which will take place at 4pm on Wednesday October 21 at Hopewell Valley Central High School and will be open to the public.

The forum will be taped by television production students at Hopewell Valley Central High School, under the direction of HVCHS teacher, Frank Flegeal. The program will also be subsequently televised on Comcast Channel 19 and Verizon Channel 32. The broadcast schedule for the forum will be posted on the League website as soon as it is known.  Go to: HopewellValleyLWV.org for the schedule and more information about the upcoming election.

Beyond the local elections, voters will also find local school board, county government and state assembly positions on the ballot.

“In the Hopewell Valley League, we strive through education to empower citizens to make democracy work for themselves and their communities,” said Joann Held. “Your vote really counts, so read our banner and follow its advice: VOTE on November 3rd.”
