Car Burglaries, Thefts, and Police Pursuit in Pennington and Hopewell Township

by MercerMe Staff

Several car burglaries occurred in the early morning hours of Monday, January 28, in Hopewell Township and Pennington Borough. In Hopewell Township, the streets included Baker Way, Jefferson Place, Linden Lane, Woodmere Way, Kings Court, East Curlis Avenue and Mallard Drive. Two vehicles were reported stolen out of Pennington Borough.

“Our officers did get into a brief pursuit along Pennington Road onto I-295 after spotting one of the stolen cars shortly after the theft was reported,” said Hopewell Township Police Chief Lance Maloney. “The pursuit was called off for safety reasons. We did recover a stolen pick-up truck (from another jurisdiction) that was abandoned on I-295, which we believe was tied to the stolen vehicles out of Pennington.”

Investigations into these car burglaries and thefts continue.

Residents are reminded to lock their cars and are discouraged from leaving the keys to the cars in them when unattended.
