Chance to Help Reed Road House Fire Family

by Mary Galioto

On MercerMe, I covered the residential fire on Reed Road that happened over the weekend but what I did not capture is how this effects those whose house perished. These types of events, while news, are deeply devastating incidents in the lives of the effected family, the Ericksons.

While the Ericksons currently live in a hotel until they find more permanent temporary housing, friends and neighbors have pulled together to provide a means to offer financial support during this difficult time. Please read the following and, if you feel moved, offer help.

Dear friends and families, one of the families in our community lost most of their home to a fire this weekend. Thankfully, they are all unharmed.  They have two boys, one in 4th grade and one in 8th.  All of their remaining belongings have been tarnished by smoke, soot, and water damage.  Their youngest boy lost nearly everything from his room: clothing, toys, and sadly, his two small pets.  They are such a wonderful and kind family who’ve always put others’ needs before their own.  We’d like to help them in any way we can .

We are hoping all of you could help as well by donating anything you can spare.   In times like this, communities are tested to come together with kindness and generosity to help our friends and peers in need.  They will be living in a hotel for a period of time before they can arrange for a home to rent while their house is repaired.  Although it’s difficult to gauge exactly what they will need moving on from this point, we would like to help them with funds to cover any costs they will incur that are not immediately reimbursed by their insurance company.   No donation is too small!  Every bit could go a long way.  Thank you so much for your help and support!

A collection is being made on Go Fund Us as “The Erickson Family Emergency Fund” and you can find the link HERE.
