Chicken Dog Cafe to Fill Former Dos Gringos Space in Pennington

by Andrea Fereshteh

Chicken Dog Cafe, formerly of Lambertville, will fill the space at 20 Main Street in Pennington vacated earlier this summer by Dog Gringos Southwestern Grill.

According to their website, Chicken Dog Cafe plans to open Wednesday, Sept. 3 and serve a full breakfast from open to close, as well as hand-pressed burgers, salads, sandwiches, and their famous “RED BOX” hoagies.

Chicken Dog also features daily changing “comfort-food” specials, including corned beef and cabbage, barbecue ribs, fish and chips, seafood platters, roasted chicken, pulled pork, meatloaf, and store-made soups. The cafe also features an extensive catering menu.

According to the cafe’s website, Chicken Dog derives it’s name from the owners’ dog. Princess was undernourished when she came to the owners and refused to eat. The dog’s veterinarian encouraged them to offer whatever food she would consume, and she loved chicken, eating enough to slowly regain her health and vigor. Today, Princess is a very healthy thirteen year old “puppy.”

As the cafe starts up, hours will be as follows:

Monday: Closed
Tuesday: 6am – 5pm
Wed-Fri: 6am – 7pm
Saturday: 6am – 4pm
Sunday: 9am – 4pm
