Collision Closes Washington Crossing Pennington Rd, Two Sent to Hospital

At 7:09 PM the Hopewell Township Police Department along with the Union Fire Company and Rescue Squad were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash on County Route 546 (Washington Crossing Pennington Road) near George Washington Drive. Officers arrived on scene and found that a Toyota Camry and a Chevrolet Malibu had collided.

The Toyota was driven by Jason Ulrich, a 43 year old male from Bayberry Road in Ewing, New Jersey. Mr. Ulrich was transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center by the Union Rescue Squad and Paramedics from Capital Health with several injuries, however, the injuries do not appear to be life threatening.

The Chevrolet Malibu was driven by John Murphy, a 54 year old male from New Road in Hopewell Township, New Jersey. Mr. Murphy was transported to Capital Health Medical Center Hopewell Campus by the Union Rescue Squad with minor injuries.

Investigation into the crash revealed that Mr. Ulrich was traveling eastbound on County route 546 in a Toyota Camry when he crossed the centerline into the westbound lane of travel, striking the Chevrolet Malibu driven by Mr. Murphy which was traveling westbound.

County Route 546 was closed between Jacobs Creek Road and County Route 579 for approximately 3 hours.

The crash is being investigated by Officer James Rosso and Detective Frank Tulko of the Hopewell Township Police Department and Detective Don Santora of the Mercer County Prosecutors Office
