The Ewing Township Historic Preservation Society and the Ewing Township 250th Committee will transport visitors back to the 18th century during Colonial Faire on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Drake Farm Park, 27 Federal City Road in Ewing.
The free outdoor event will feature historical exhibits, demonstrations, vendors and family-friendly activities celebrating life during the Revolutionary era.
Among the highlights are Revolutionary War reenactors portraying soldiers from the Continental Army’s only Black and Indigenous regiment, making their inaugural appearance in Ewing. Visitors can also watch a master weaver spin wool on an antique spinning wheel, enjoy traditional American fiddle music, see Howell Living History Farm demonstrate an antique cider press, and observe a master woodworker using historic tools.
Families can participate in 18th-century children’s games, explore the kitchen garden with demonstrations of seasonal flowers and vegetables, identify unusual historic tools and utensils, and take a mini tour of the circa-1750 Benjamin Temple House.
The Colonial Faire will also feature vendors selling handcrafted goods and fall plants.
The event is hosted by the Ewing Township Historic Preservation Society and the Ewing Township 250th Committee, with logistical support from Ewing Township. Funding is provided in part through a grant from the Mercer County Cultural & Heritage Commission, a partner of the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.
Admission and parking are free. Accessible parking and ADA-compliant portable restrooms will be available on site.
