On December 4th, Pennington Borough, along with other Mercer County towns, will line their streets with candles, as part of Womanspace’s 16th Annual Communities of Light™ Event.
Money raised by the event will be used for crisis intervention, emergency shelter, counseling, court advocacy, and housing services for men, women, and children impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking in Mercer County.
Through a Proclamation read at the last Pennington Borough Council meeting, Mayor Anthony Perischilli, the Borough applauded Womanspace’s record of serving more than 67,778 women, 4,639 men, and 13,007 children since its founding in 1977 and urged that “each and every household demonstrate their support of the concept that peace begins at home by placing luminaries along their driveways and sidewalks on Monday, December 4th, 2017 as a visible symbol of that support.”
Luminary kits may be purchased at Amber Spa (Pennington), Pennington Quality Market (Pennington), Weidel Realtors (Princeton), ERA Central Realty Group (Robbinsville), Diverse Style Salon (Lawrenceville), Doctors Express Urgent Care (Hamilton), East Windsor Police Department (East Windsor), McCaffery’s (Princeton and West Windsor), Princeton Center for Yoga & Health (Skillman), Gratitude Yoga (Princeton), John O. Wilson Center (Hamilton), and online. Further information about the programs and services offered by Womanspace can be found by clicking here.
