Christmas and the Winter Solstice (virtual)
Dec 13, 2021 @ 7:00 pm
Since prehistory, the winter solstice has been seen as a significant time of year in many cultures and has been marked by festivals and rituals. The pagan Scandinavian and Germanic people of northern Europe celebrated a twelve-day “midwinter” (winter solstice) holiday called Yule (also called Jul, Julblot, jólablót, midvinterblot, julofferfest). Join Jeff Kampf from Lifelong Cognition, as he enthusiastically teaches attendees about the evolution of Christmas and winter holiday traditions through history, music, and travel. Co-sponsored by Friends of the Hopewell Library, Friends of the West Windsor Library, the Hightstown Library Association, and Friends of the Hickory Corner Library. Please emailĀ hopeprogs@mcl.orgĀ to register to receive link to program.
