Hopewell Valley YMCA Annual Spring Fundraiser
Apr 27, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Hopewell Valley YMCA has announced its annual “Spring for the Y” fundraising event will be held on April 27, 2019 at the Glenmoore Barn in Hopewell. This year’s event will honor Ann Jackson with the 2019 Larry Rothwell Social Responsibility Award, named for Larry Rothwell of Pennington Quality Market.
Annie Jackson is very proud to have been a part of our local community for 35 years. She worked as a nurse at Princeton Hospital and has been a florist at Pennington Quality Market for the last 19 years. Annie has always believed it is important to give back to local organizations that make a difference. It was this belief that drove Annie and her daughter, Caitlin, to launch the Tom Jackson Sports Fund to honor her late husband. After Tom’s death, our YMCA was very lucky to be the recipient of many gifts in his memory. Annie and her friends didn’t want to stop there, and started the Tom Jackson Sports Fund. The fund was started in Tom’s honor because of his dedication to sports in Hopewell Valley and the idea that everybody “can be a champion” regardless of ability to pay, or sports skills. Since then, Annie and Caitlin have been a leading force in the Tom Jackson Champion Golf Outing and have helped raise countless dollars for our Y’s mission. Their work with the Golf Tournament has turned what would have been one-time generosity into an annual celebration of Tom’s memory and education to sports in the Valley.
The YMCA will also be honoring our Community Leadership Award recipient as well as the Healthy Living Award recipient, Tom Jackson Wrestling Scholarship winner and the Youth Development Scholarship winner, all to be named at a later date.
The event will take place on April 27, 2019 from 7:00 – 10:00 pm and will feature A Night in Morocco theme. Stationed and passed hors d’hoeuvres will be provided by 15 Landsdowne Catering. Entertainment will feature local band All for the Betee. Proceeds from the event support the Hopewell Valley YMCA’s Annual Campaign which provides financial assistance to families for critical before and after school programming, summer camp and youth sports and allows the YMCA to offer free Mental Health First Aid classes to the community, Special Olympics programming, and a free teen center for Hopewell Valley teens. Tickets are available to the public at hvymca.org or by calling 609-737-3048.
