Sep 20, 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
One event on May 15, 2021 at 6:30 pm
Princeton’s Inaugural Art Against Racism‘s mission is to promote social justice, inclusion, equity and anti-racist community building through the visual arts.
Join us for the opening reception of Princeton’s Inaugural Art Against Racism to promote social justice, inclusion, equity and anti-racist community building through the visual arts.
From Sept 20-30, the multi-faceted program at various Princeton venues, will offer opportunities for Princeton area residents to consider and discuss racism locally, and beyond.
Gather with friends, participating artists, community, neighbors and organizers Rholind Ponder, fine artist, activist, attorney and longtime Princeton Resident; Robt Seda-Schreiber, chief activist of the Bayard Rustin Center for Social Justice (BRCSJ); and Ruthann Traylor, artist, art curator, activist, Princeton resident, and member of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Princeton. Collectively, they see this event as an essential response to the current environment.
Events scheduled include a juried art exhibition, special theatrical performance of the documentary play Gloria: A Life, inter-denominational breakfasts between members of black, Latino and predominantly white churches, ostensibly desegregating what has been called “the most segregated hour in America;” a poetry reading; a talk on reparations; and an anti-racism drag show, “Racism is A Drag.”
