Voices Chorale NJ: “SINGING FOR PEACE” on April 30 in Princeton

April 30 @ 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm

$10 – $25

Under the direction of Dr. David A. McConnell, Voices Chorale NJ presents “Singing for Peace”, an in-person and live-streamed concert on April 30 in Princeton, NJ. Works will include Handel’s rarely performed Anthem on the Peace, selections by Mendelssohn and Haydn, and contemporary composers. These divergent works express the longing for peace through distinct approaches.

Accompaniment will be the chorale pianist Dr. Akiko Hosaki and the 16-piece Berks Sinfonietta, an inter-generational chamber orchestra co-founded and directed by Dr. McConnell.

Voices Chorale NJ originally planned to perform this music in the spring of 2020.  Therefore, the ability to perform together in person now carries even more relevance, especially due to current events.  According to Dr. McConnell, “We will accomplish something good if people think about their role in creating peace. If they leave comforted and challenged by the texts, we will have made the words speak more clearly through the music.”
