Activists such as Harriet Tubman\, Abigail Goodwin\, and Benjamin Sheppard assisted runaway slaves along the Underground Railroad through daring nighttime journeys in the Pine Barrens and coordinated signals from boats in the marshlands of Delaware Bay. \nAuthor Ellen D.
