by Mary Galioto

At 2:34 AM today, the Hopewell Township Police along with the Pennington Fire Company, the Pennington First Aid Squad and the Ewing Township Emergency Services were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash on Scotch Road just north of Interstate 95. Officers arrived and found that a 2004 Nissan 350 had crashed.

The Nissan was driven by Nicojon Dacayanan (26 years of age), of Cedar Lane, Hamilton, New Jersey. Mr. Dacayanan was extricated from his vehicle and was transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center by the Ewing Township Emergency Services with Paramedics from Capital Health System. Mr. Dacayanan was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Investigation into the crash revealed that Mr. Dacayanan was traveling northbound on Scotch Road when for an unknown reason his vehicle ran off the roadway to the right, striking a drainage culvert.

The Union Fire Company and the West Trenton Fire Company assisted on scene.

The crash is being investigated by Officer Michael Toth, Detective Michael Sherman, and Detective Don Santora of the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office.

The crash remains under investigation.
