Four Mercer County Schools have been recognized as winners of 2017 New Jersey Safe Routes to School. New Jersey Safe Routes to School (SRTS) is a statewide initiative to enable and encourage students to safely walk and bicycle to school.
Gold winners include Princeton’s Johnson Park Elementary School and Riverside Elementary School, and East Windsor Township. And Hopewell Elementary School, in Hopewell Borough was awarded Silver.
“Each month, more and more students are electing to walk and roll to Hopewell Elementary School,” said Hopewell Elementary School Principal Friedrich. “There are countless benefits to participation – it reduces traffic, provides physical activity, and mentally prepares children for the day, to name a few. We appreciation this recognition and value our partnership with Greater Mercer TMA and Sourland Cycles.”
