Montgomery Township Deputy Health officer Devangi Patel

Pennington Borough (from Mayor Joe Lawver):
I hope that this note finds you safe and healthy.  Today (4/24) marks the end of our fifth week under stay at home orders and no one can definitively say when those orders will be lifted.  Certainly, it will still be a long time before everyone can begin operating normally.
The President today signed the third Covid-19 relief bill which puts an additional $310 billion in the Paycheck Protection Program.  Additional measures were included in this bill to ensure that this program gets to the small businesses as intended.  As you recall, the initial $350 billion in funding for this program ran out in less than two weeks.  I encourage anyone interested in this program to talk to their bank and get your application in as soon as possible.  If you don’t have a bank relationship, local banks such as The Bank of Princeton are accepting applications from new customers.
On the State level, no new relief programs have been announced.  New Jersey is grappling with how it will make up the dramatic shortfall in revenues and is unlikely to fund relief programs until the Federal government provides it with financial support.  Senators Menendez and Booker are strongly advocating for aid for states and municipalities, but it will have to wait for the next Covid-19 relief bill.
