Hopewell Local Honored for Leadership in the Disability Community

by MercerMe Staff

Brenda Considine, founder and CEO of Considine Communication Strategies, is the 2017 recipient of the Ann Klein Advocate Award. She is recognized for her dedication and expertise helping improve the lives of children and adults living with disabilities.

Since 1988, the Community Health Law Project has sponsored the Ann Klein Advocate Awards, where publicly nominated individuals and organizations are recognized for their exemplary work as advocates for the disability community. Beginning in 1984, Considine worked in the field of government relations, strategic communications, and public policy as it relates to children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities. Her contributions through advocacy, policy research, grassroots organizing and writing, have helped to increase funding for community-based housing, improve special education funding and establish a statewide system of family support services, to name a few.

After years of working in the public sector, she founded Considine Communication Strategies with her husband in 1997. The firm specializes in comprehensive strategic communication services to state agencies, nonprofit organizations, schools, advocacy groups and small businesses dedicated to serving people with disabilities.

This year marks the 30th annual Ann Klein Advocate Awards, which will be held at the Wilshire Grand Hotel in South Orange on October 19th. The awards are named in memory of Ann Klein, whose career as a public servant, legislator and social worker paved the way for advances in the human services systems throughout New Jersey.
