by MercerMe Staff

The Hopewell Township Fire District No. 1 announced this week that it was awarded a $25,000 grant from Bristol-Myers Squibb to purchase an automated cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) machine and a respirator fit test machine.

“We recognize and appreciate the valuable year-round services the Hopewell Township Emergency Services provide to our community and we are proud to provide this grant to help improve response capabilities and the health and safety of our municipal responders,” said John A. Welling III, Director of Emergency Services at Bristol-Myers Squibb.

The CPR machine will be used by the career staff during the day and the volunteer squad from the Union Fire Company and Rescue Squad at night. The fit test machine is used by the firefighters throughout Hopewell Valley to insure our self-contained breathing apparatus mask maintain a proper seal while in dangerous environments.

The Hopewell Township Fire District No. 1 extends its thanks to Bristol-Myers Squibb for their generosity and commitment to the visitors, residents, and emergency responders throughout Hopewell Valley.
