by MercerMe Staff

The following is health event information for Hopewell Township:

FLU CLNIC INFORMATION:  The Center for Disease Control recommends influenza vaccinations for all people over 6 months of age.  Production of flu vaccine is already under way and shipments are arriving daily at physician’s offices, your neighborhood drug store and supermarket pharmacies in addition to the local health departments. Hopewell Township Health Department will be working with Rite Aid pharmacies to bring flu clinics throughout the Valley over the next few weeks.

FLU CLINIC:

Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at the Hopewell Township Building- Lower Level, 201 Washington Crossing Pennington Road, Titusville, from 7:00 am to 10:00 am and 2:00pm to 6:00pm. NOTE: Please bring Medicare, insurance and prescription cards to clinic.

RABIES CLINIC:

Saturday, November 4, 10-12 Noon.  Hopewell Valley residents are urged to bring their dogs and cats to the free rabies vaccination clinic from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. The clinic will take place at the Hopewell Township Public Works Facility at 203 Washington Crossing Pennington Road in Titusville. All dogs must be on leashes. Cats should be in a carrying case or sturdy pillow case. If you have a new kitten or puppy in your life, remember that kittens and puppies must get their first rabies vaccine at three months of age and regularly thereafter. In order for a 2015 pet license to be issued, the duration of rabies immunity must be valid for the full licensing period. Licenses for both dogs and cats are due in January. Pets should be re-vaccinated every 2 – 2.5 years. Applications are available online. Go to www.hopewelltwp.org, click on “Departments” then “Health,” and then look for “Application for Pet Registration.” Rabies is a frightening fatal illness that is highly infectious, even during the six-month period when the animal may show no symptoms at all. In New Jersey, cats are the most common domestic animal to become infected, and cats pose the greatest risk of spreading the disease to people.   If you have questions or concerns, or for information about other free rabies clinics in the greater Mercer area, please contact the Health Department at 737-0120 ext. 678.
