The Hopewell Township Historic Preservation Commission invites the public to join them on Saturday, April 27, 2019 from 1to 3pm for an open house at the Mount Rose Distillery (“Whiskey House”) at 192 Pennington-Rocky Hill Road.
Local authors Elaine Buck and Beverly Mills will make a presentation entitled “A Proud Heritage – African-American Presence in the Sourland Mountain Region and Surrounding Area.” Buck and Mills are founding members of the Stoutsburg Sourland African American Museum and serve on its advisory board. They have been Trustees of the Stoutsburg Cemetery Association for the past thirty-five years.
Beverly Mills is the first African American woman to hold the elected position as Councilwoman, Pennington Borough, and Elaine Buck is Church Clerk for the Second Calvary Baptist Church of Hopewell, NJ.
