Hopewell Township Police Blotter: Week of February 19, 2018

The following is information provided by Hopewell Township Police Department: 

Aggravated Assault: On February 5, 2018 at 12:54 am, Officer Brian Dendis was dispatched to a motor vehicle crash on the Pennington Circle where the driver walked away from the scene.  Officer Dendis was assisted on scene by Ewing Police Officer Boller.  During the investigation, the officers located and spoke with a male individual of Hamilton NJ.  While speaking with the individual, he poked Officer Boller in the chest with force.  He was placed under arrest for Aggravated Assault and Resisting Arrest and transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released. This case will be forwarded to the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

DWI: On February 18, 2018 at 5:10 pm, Officer Mandy Grey stopped a 2017 Honda for failure to yield on Pennington Road.  While speaking to the driver, who was identified as a male individual of Seaside Heights NJ, Officer Grey smelled the odor of alcohol on the driver’s breath and person.  After roadside sobriety testing, the driver was placed under arrest for DWI.  He was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and charged with DWI, Reckless Driving, and Refusal to Submit to Breath Testing.  He was released to a friend.

Possession of Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia: On  Feburary 15, 2018 at 7:50 am, Officer James Hoffman stopped a 2012 Honda on Pennington Lawrenceville Road for speeding [47/30].  While speaking to the driver, who was identified as a male individual of Flushing NY, Officer Hoffman smelled the odor of marijuana in the vehicle. A subsequent search found the driver in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia [grinder].  The driver was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released. His case will be heard in municipal court.

DWI: On February 19, 2018 at 12:12 am, Officer Nicholas Sparaco stopped a 2012 Volvo on Rt 29 at Nedsland Avenue for speeding [65/45]. While speaking to the driver, Officer Sparaco believed the individual was impaired and smelled of alcohol and marijuana.  After roadside sobriety testing, the individual was placed under arrest for DWI.  The driver was also found in possession of marijuana.  He was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released to a family member after being cited for DWI, Reckless Driving, and Possession of CDS in a motor vehicle as well as speeding. His case will be heard in municipal court.
