Hopewell Township Police Blotter: Week of January 12, 2018

The following is information provided by Hopewell Township Police Department: 

Robbery: On January 8, 2018, at 7:08am, Hopewell Township officers responded to a report of a robbery at the Buy Rite on the Pennington Circle. Officer Christopher Vaccarino met with a victim, an employee of Buy Rite, who advised the officer that a white male entered the store and attempted to steal a case of beer. When the employee confronted him outside the store, the perpetrator struck the employee several times with a closed fist and then fled the scene with the beer in a Honda Civic that had several other occupants and New York License plates. The employee refused medical treatment.  The investigation is ongoing.

Burglary and Theft: On January 4, 1028, Hopewell Township Police Officer Sara Erwin met with a victim on Patterson Avenue in Titusville who reported a burglary and theft that had occurred in the past two weeks. The victim advised the officer that someone entered their locked residence and stole a dishwasher and microwave valued at $650.00.  The investigation is ongoing.

DWI: After responding to a one-car motor vehicle crash on Route 29 on January 8, 2018 at 11pm, Hopewell Township Police Officer Mark Panzano arrested and charged a 23 year old male resident of Pennington, NJ with DWI.  He was processed and released to a family member after being charged with DWI, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Maintain Lane.

DWI: On January 10, 2018 at 1:33pm, Hopewell Township Police Officer George Peterson responded to the area of West Broad Street on the report of a possible drunk driver. Officer Peterson located the 2004 Chevrolet and stopped the vehicle for weaving in the lane. The officer then spoke with driver, a 62 year old male resident of Hopewell, NJ, and smelled the odor of alcohol on his breath and person. After roadside sobriety testing, the driver was placed under arrest, transported to police headquarters, was processed and released to a friend after being charged with DWI, DWI in a School Zone, Reckless Driving, Improper Use of Lane and Failure to Exhibit Documents. The case will be heard in Hopewell Borough Municipal Court.
