Hopewell Township Police Blotter: Week of March 6, 2017

The following is information provided by Hopewell Township Police Department: 

Burglary, Theft, Criminal MischiefOn February 24, 2017 at 5:23pm, Officer Christopher Vaccarino was dispatched to the Lower Park on River Drive on the report of a male who smashed a window out of a parked car and stole a purse. The subject then fled on foot near the Patriots Crossing Inn. Officer Vaccarino responded and located the suspect and detained him at the scene. He was identified as a resident of Washington Crossing, PA. Officer Vaccarino turned over Palmer to the New Jersey State Park Police who charged him. The purse was recovered at the scene as well as approximately $112.00 in cash. The department would like to thank the members of the public who called in the burglary and provided important information that led to the arrest of the individual.

DWI: On February 25, 2017 at 2:42am, Officer Robert Voorhees responded to a vehicle off the road on Blackwell Road. He located a 2005 Dodge off the roadway in a ditch. While speaking with the driver who was identified as a resident of Hamilton, NJ, he smelled the odor of alcohol on his breath and person. After roadside sobriety testing he was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters.  He was processed and released to a friend after being cited for DWI and Reckless Driving.
