Hopewell Township Police meet the public at Coffee with a Cop

by Tracy Vogler

Aunt Chubby’s Luncheonette in Hopewell Borough hosted the Hopewell Township police for Coffee with a Cop on Tuesday.  A substantial number of both the public and police filled the back room as residents took advantage of the opportunity to talk with the offices one-on-one in an informal setting.

Police Chief Lance Maloney said that the police department has been having these informal outreach sessions for about five years. Previously, they had been held at Dunkin’ Donuts and Starbucks, both in Hopewell Township.

Since the Hopewell Township police also patrol Hopewell Borough through a shared services agreement, Borough Administrator Michele Hovan suggested meeting there as well. She contacted Aunt Chubby’s who kindly offered to host the gathering. Residents brought questions of interest to them, many of which concerned traffic.

Chief Maloney said he was very pleased with the turnout and plans to continue the tradition.
