Hopewell Valley Celebrates Life and Contributions of Joseph T. Jantorno, III

by Mary Galioto

Gathered at the Hopewell Valley Youth Football Field, the Hopewell Valley community and Hopewell youth sport organizations celebrated the life and memory of Joseph T. Jantorno, III, on Saturday November 25, 2017. At the ceremony, Jantorno’s name was placed on the Hopewell Valley Pop Warner press box, and Hopewell Township presented a resolution commemorating Jantorno’s dedication and spirit of volunteerism.

Jantorno was an active parent, coach, and administrator for three of Hopewell Valley’s youth sport organizations. An assistant basketball coach for Hopewell Valley travel basketball for several seasons, Jantorno also volunteered with the Hopewell Valley Baseball / Softball Association where he managed and coached on the recreational, travel, and district all-star levels from 2004 to 2012.

Jantorno served as a volunteer coach for Hopewell Valley Pop Warner Football League from 2006 to 2011 and, as head coach of his teams, won the league championships in 2007, 2008, and 2010, competing in the Eastern Regionals in each of those seasons.

From 2008 to 2001, Jantorno served as a Hopewell Valley Pop Warner Board member and was instrumental in building the football press box which the entire community will be able to enjoy for many years to come, and which was dedicated in his name at the ceremony.

“Joe’s unselfish dedication to Hopewell Valley Youth Sports enriched those fortunate enough to know and work with him and inspired others to give back to their community,” stated the resolution, echoing the community’s sentiment.
