Hopewell Valley Chorus concert this weekend

by Mary Galioto

On Sunday May 4, the Hopewell Valley Chorus will present its spring concert entitled, “The Road Home,”  featuring a collection of choral music on the theme of going home. The concert will be at 4 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church at Washington Crossing, 268 Washington Crossing-Pennington Road, Titusville, NJ

Music selections for the spring season include Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Already Home,” songs from “The Wiz” and “Les Miserables,” and “I’m Going Home,” from the Sacred Harp old American folk tradition and featured in the movie Cold Mountain. Also among the titles are “Far From the Home I Love” from Fiddler on the Roof (Bock and Harnick), arranged by Brian Ramsey, and “The Road Home,” by Stephen Paulus. The program will also include a special performance by Hopewell Valley Chorus Scholarship recipient, Elisabeth Boyce-Jacino.

Tickets can be purchased on the Hopewell Valley Chorus website or at the door the day of the concert. See their website for further details.

The Hopewell Valley Chorus is an amateur, unauditioned adult community chorus located in Pennington, New Jersey who perform two or three times a year locally, and participate in a variety of community outreach activities.

The Hopewell Valley Chorus was also one of last year’s Hopewell Harvest Fair grant recipients, receiving funds toward their March concert “Spring into Song,” a free annual concert with performances by vocal groups based in or with close ties to the Hopewell Valley including the Trenton Children’s Chorus (TCC) and the Hopewell Valley Central High School a cappella. Money raised at that concert enable the Hopewell Valley Chorus to send three TCC members to the Albemarle Summer Music Program and one to the Westminster Middle School Summer Vocal Camp.

The Hopewell Harvest Fair is proud to support this and many other local organizations and events. If you want to get involved in helping out, please email [email protected]. MercerMe’s Mary Galioto excited to be on the board of the Hopewell Harvest Fair this year and to help promote the HHF and its various grant recipients. MercerMe will be represented at the Hopewell Harvest Fair this year. Come say hello!
