Hopewell Valley Lions Raise Funds to Support Eye Research

by MercerMe Staff

It may have been chilly, wet and grey last Saturday, but the patrons of the Pennington Quality Market brought their own sunshine to the Hopewell Valley Lions White Cane Fundraiser. Over a thousand dollars was raised to support the efforts of the Lions Eye Research Foundation to live up to Helen Keller’s challenge for “The Lions to be knights for the blind in the fight against darkness.” All this is made possible by the continuing support of the Pennington Quality Market over the years.

The Hopewell Valley Lions are also involved in host of local activities. Among them awarding a high school scholarship, sponsoring Boy Scout Troop 1776, providing funds for youth and community activities. The club also loans hospital equipment. Founded in 1951, the local club is celebrating the International Lions Club 100th anniversary and “extends a welcoming hand to men and women who wish to serve their community and enjoy the fellowship of good Samaritans.” For information, call Tracey Rogers at 609–730-1020 or Larry Mansier at 609-737-0863.
