Hopewell Valley Senior Services September Events and Activities

The Hopewell Valley Senior Services offers events, programs, educational classes, and lectures throughout the year. This month, they are offering the following:

Artists’ Choice Art Show
Thursday, September 6, 3:30pm-5:00pm at Mercer County Library, 245 Pennington Titusville Road, Pennington. The show will be on display for the month of September at the library. Refreshments provided.

Senior Picnic
Thursday, September 13, 12:00pm-3:00pm at Washington Crossing State Park, Sullivan’ s Grove, 355 Washington Crossing Pennington Road, Titusville, NJ. Join us and fellow senior residents for an afternoon of fun, food and music brought to you by Hopewell Valley Senior Services and Hopewell Township Recreation Dept. Seniors ages 60 and over from throughout Hopewell Valley are encouraged to be part of this important community tradition.  Registration is required, please call 609-537-0257 by 09/05.

GrandPals Meeting
Tuesday, September 18, 10:00 am, Hopewell Township Municipal Building Auditorium, 201 Washington Crossing Pennington Road, Titusville. We are looking for volunteers for this rewarding program.  Our volunteers will read to groups of students weekly at Bear Tavern Elementary School.  The volunteer will have the same group of students every few weeks from October to May and your relationship with them will blossom.  You will watch them grow from the young Kindergartener to the confident student ready for 1st grade. This meeting will review the class schedules as well as go over the fingerprinting documentation needed to become a volunteer. Vaccines for Older Adults
Tuesday, September 25, 6:30pm-8:30pm at Pennington Public Library, 30 N. Main Street, Pennington. As we age, our immune system weakens and it is more difficult to fight infections. Vaccines are especially important for older adults. Join us as Capital Health Pharmacy presents Vaccines for Older Adults, come learn about the various vaccines that are recommended for older adults, including Flu, Pneumonia, Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis), Shingles etc. Getting vaccinated helps keep not only you healthy but your family, friends and community!  Registration is requested, to register please call Liz, 609-537-0257 or [email protected] by Friday, September 21st.

Tracking Wild Birds
Wednesday, September 26, 10:00am, Hopewell Valley Senior Center, 395 Reading Street, Pennington. Join us as we learn about the native birds in our area, what to do and how to attract them. Presented by Rosedale Mills.

Hopewell Township Flu Clinic
Wednesday, September 26th, 2:00pm-7:00pm at the Hopewell Township Municipal Building, Auditorium 201 Washington Crossing Pennington Road, Titusville. Open to Valley are residents ages 12 and above.  Please bring your medicare, insurance card and/ or prescription card with you. No appointment necessary.  Available while you wait: Perritt Labs, a leader in the package testing industry for over 40 years, will be here asking adult volunteers aged   50 – 70 to open & close child resistant containers using the Consumer Product Safety Commission guidelines.  This is to make sure that young children are protected from harmful medicines and household products as well as helping to improve packaging for adults.  Effective child resistant packages have prevented thousands of poisoning since the Poison Prevention Act was passed in 1970.
