Hurricane Henri, which was downgraded to a tropical storm Sunday morning, dumped huge amounts rain in New Jersey on its way to making landfall in Rhode Island.
The national weather service reported that some parts of New Jersey received up to eight inches of rain. Hopewell Borough was the site of one the greatest amounts of rainfall in the state, with more than six inches overnight, while Pennington received about three inches and western Hopewell Township received about two inches.
Westcott Boulevard was reportedly the site of street tubing as neighbors rode the the water pouring down the road. Meanwhile, on the spot photographer Ian Levine captured the flooding and street damage on the corner of Broad and Maple in Hopewell Borough this morning:
The Hopewell Valley seems to have skated by with few electrical outages – some of the neighborhoods off Rt. 29 reported loss of power for about an hour this morning and PSE&G reported a few houses without power this afternoon in the area of Jacobs Creek due to a fallen tree.
