The Hopewell Valley Arts Council will be hosting its next virtual ArtConnect Forum on Tuesday, April 20 from 7 to 8pm with fascinating local guest speakers Catherine Fulmer-Hogan and Barry Hantman. All creative-minded individuals are invited to attend. Donation of any size kindly requested of non-members and HV Arts Council members free. “Each Forum brings new ideas and some surprises with imaginative speakers sharing their work, inspiration, and creative process,” said HV Arts Council executive director, Carol Lipson. “ArtConnect Forum is a unique opportunity for the community to learn from each other about different aspects of the art world.”
Catherine Fulmer-Hogan, a community and social justice advocate, will present “High Notes: Gospel Music as a Catalyst for Social Change” about the significance of gospel music in the church, how spiritual music tells the story of being Black in America, and share her experiences living in a large family chock-full of singers, musicians, and artists. Fulmer-Hogan serves as a trustee of the Stoutsburg Sourland African American Museum, the Hopewell Museum, and Hope Rises Up.
Barry Hantman, an eclectic and versatile artist formally trained in ceramics and jewelry-making, is the “Member Spotlight” and will talk about his passion for collecting outsider art, what inspires his work, and his most recent favorite mediums: fused glass and multi-media assemblages.
