HVRSD Superintendent Calls for Community Racism Conversation

by Community Contributor

Dear HVRSD Community,

In early January, I sent a letter to our community regarding the racial incident involving Central High School students that occurred prior to winter break. The letter helped spark discussions about race, district programs and civic responsibility. Several years ago the district began to coordinate with the Hopewell Valley Race and Diversity Discussion Group, but it is now time for us to build upon this and start a broader conversation that is needed by our community.

We have scheduled our Community Conversation to take place on Saturday, March 9, 2019 (rescheduled from February 16) from 9-11am in the Central High School Cafeteria. I ask members of our community to join me in this Community Conversation so we can address these topics as a community, together. Please rsvp here.

Free childcare will be available and light refreshments will be provided by the Hopewell Valley Education Foundation.

Sincerely,

Thomas A. Smith, Ed.D.

Superintendent of Schools
