Events like the recent flooding in Louisiana and now Tropical Storm Hermine churning its way toward the East Coast reminds us that weather can change at a moment’s notice. September is National Preparedness Month and, as the forecast develops for Tropical Storm Hermine, now is the time to take simple steps to prepare your home, business and school for this or any other natural disaster emergency that may affect your area, advises Mercer County Executive Brian M. Hughes.
“Our Mercer County Office of Emergency Management will monitor this storm as the National Weather Service and the National Hurricane Center receives and reviews updated information,” Mr. Hughes stated. “Although we don’t anticipate the need to activate our emergency center over the weekend, the actual path of the storm will dictate our decision. As the Mercer County administration prepares for Tropical Storm Hermine, I encourage you to also put your plan in place.”
