On Saturday, April 13, walking enthusiasts, outdoorsy folks, nature lovers and other friends and neighbors are invited to join a new club – the LHT Saturday Morning Walking Club. This walk will launch the Lawrence Hopewell Trail’s initiative to bring people together to enjoy the biking and walking trail that loops through Lawrence and Hopewell Townships.

The walk will start at 9:30 a.m. at the original stretch of the trail on the ETS campus off Carter and Rosedale Roads. LHT Co-President Becky Taylor will lead a three-mile walk through beautiful Carson Road Woods, across Carson Road to the Bristol-Myers Squibb Lawrenceville Campus and back, arriving back at ETS around 11 a.m.

“Make room, book clubs, moms groups, sports teams, coffee klatches, neighborhood groups. We now have another way to get together to enjoy each other and our community – through the LHT Saturday Morning Walking Club,” said Taylor. “The club is intentionally informal, with a minimum of fuss. We’ll meet at the LHT kiosk on Assessment Road at ETS and chat – or not – as we walk. Wear comfortable shoes, of course!”

This will be the first in a series of walks taking place on the second Saturday of each month. The goal is to introduce walkers to various parts of the trail in 2019. Each month the LHT will announce the route for the next walk.

“We’re also celebrating the opening day for the Circuit Trails, an 850-mile network of bicycle and pedestrian trails connecting people in the Greater Philadelphia Region,” said Co-President Eleanor Horne, who represents the LHT on the Circuit Trails steering committee.  “We are proud to be a part of one of the largest trail networks in the country.  You will hear more about Circuit Trails during the walk.”
