Letter to the Editor: Energy Master Plan Meetings Need Our Voices

by Community Contributor

To the Editor:

We are in a watershed moment in our state’s history. Governor Murphy has set an ambitious goal that can put New Jersey on a path to 100 percent renewable energy by 2050. The new Energy Master Plan (EMP) being considered right now by the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities will set a vision for our state that can bring us not only new jobs and opportunities, but cleaner, safer, healthier energy – reducing harmful emissions and giving us reliable, safe and affordable energy.

But it can’t be done without us.

There are public meetings taking place that will help steer the EMP toward the clean, renewable energy that New Jersey voters overwhelmingly support, but without our voices, the vision could be jeopardized. Two final meetings are being held before the plan is drafted – on October 4 in Newark and October 10 in Camden.

This is our chance to have a say in the clean energy health of our state, to stop the threat from proposed dirty fossil fuel pipelines, and help grow an economy powered by efficient, safe, renewable energy.

I encourage your readers to visit www.nj.gov/emp/get to sign up for one of the final two stakeholder meetings.

We can make a difference.

Michael Pressel,

Hopewell Township
