Letter to the Editor: In support of Debbie O’Reilly for HVRSD BOE

by Community Contributor

To the Editor:

Hopewell Valley voters have an important School Board choice to make this November.  It is impossible to know a candidate from reading a short Q & A summary of his/her positions. I write to share my knowledge and experience with school board candidate, Debbie O’Reilly.

I had the pleasure of meeting Debbie when our now high schoolers were all young children. She is one of those people that you instantly feel like you have known forever. What sets Debbie apart is her warm personality. You can’t help but want to talk to her. Dig a little deeper and you will find someone who is a good listener and a critical thinker. Those are two qualities that I look for in someone who will serve as the liaison when representing our community as a part of the school board.

As both a teacher and a parent, Debbie brings an abundance of knowledge to this position. What has always struck me about my conversations with Debbie is her ability to see multiple points of view when discussing something school related. She recognizes that while each student has the right and the ability to learn, not all students learn in the same way.  She will fight tirelessly to make our district a place where students’ needs are met and each student is valued and safe.

As you enter the voting booth, I ask you to consider voting for Debbie O’Reilly.

Debbie represents a student-centered approach and has a wealth of understanding of effective ways to educate children. She brings with her fresh ideas and a uniquely well-rounded perspective on education.
