Looking for fun and inspiration this weekend? Join the Hopewell Tour des Arts

by MercerMe Staff

What makes the autumn light sparkle a little brighter? Now in its 12th year, the Hopewell Tour des Arts returns this weekend to inspire Valley residents and visitors.

This self-guided tour is more than just a stroll through a gallery. The two-day extravaganza allows art-lovers to choose their own route from venue to venue, to chat with the artists, and see them work in their own space.

“The Hopewell Tour Des Arts plays a significant role as a gatherer of diverse artists, creating artistic awareness of the talents in our region,” said Sean Mannix, Tour des Arts founder and organizer and owner of Highland Design Farm, home to many artist studios featured on the Tour.

The tour begins at the Hopewell Borough Train Station at 2 Railroad Place. There, samples of each artist’s work will be displayed and maps will be available to plan a path to individual studios, galleries, and workshops in and around Hopewell Borough and Township.

The 2019 Tour des Arts features established and emerging sculptors, goldsmiths, photographers, live musicians, performance artists, wood turners, painters, filmmakers, a metallurgist and collagist, among others.

“Based on feedback from visitors and artists, we have moved the Tour to kick-off the Thanksgiving and holiday season,” Mannix said. “It’s timed for artists and art buyers alike, to coincide with the coming winter holidays and gift-giving season, offering fall landscapes at their best, with opportunities to purchase unique artisan gifts for everyone on your lists.”

The annual event was founded in 2007 by fine jewelry designer Beth Judge, gallery owner Ruth Morpeth, and designer Sean Mannix, owner of Highland Design Farm.

The event is offered over two days, November 9 and 10, rain or shine, to give visitors plenty of time to visit all of the participating artists’ studios. The Tour is free of charge and all are welcome.
